Joe Welton, CPA, has a varied work experience. From 2021 to present, they have served as Sr. Director, Finance at BlossomHill Therapeutics, Inc. From 2018 to 2021, they were Corporate Controller at Invivoscribe, where they rebuilt all financials, consolidations, reporting, and budgeting from scratch, configured new ERPs, implemented ASC 606 and 842 rules, introduced sensible controls around AP, AR, and purchasing, revamped the treasury function, and reduced the close process to one week. Joe also introduced project accounting, and led a redesign of product and service costing and operational metrics. From 2017 to 2018, they took a break from the workforce to embark on a midlife crisis odyssey. From 2014 to 2017, they were Corporate Controller at Nextivity, Inc., where they ensured quality and accuracy of full cycle accounting and reporting, and brought the accounting systems from zero to first-class in three years. From 2007 to 2014, they were Accounting Manager at Qualcomm, where they managed high-volume accounts payable and disbursements with 17 reports, directed GL close process for A/P and purchasing modules across multiple Oracle ERPs, managed a team of cost and inventory accountants responsible for all "above-the-line" cost accounting for Qualcomm's chip division, and was project lead for the implementation of most major ERP-related projects & enhancements in the chip division. From 2002 to 2007, they were Senior Accountant | Auditor at the International Trade Administration, where they were a senior lead auditor of public and private companies in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and US trade regulations, and used statistical regression modelling, ANOVA, database management, and SQL scripting to uncover fraudulent or misreported transactions.
Joe Welton, CPA obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business/Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis in 1996. Joe then went on to obtain their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting and Finance and their Master of Science (M.S.) in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Davis Graduate School of Management in 2001. In 2005, they obtained their CPA from the Virginia Board of Accountancy and in 2016, they obtained their CPA from the California Board of Accountancy.
