James Vanasse

James Vanasse has extensive experience in the insurance industry, specifically in underwriting. James currently holds the position of Managing Director, Underwriting at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, where they lead the underwriting department and is responsible for the underwriting of large group commercial medical, dental, and vision products. Prior to this role, James served as Vice President of Underwriting at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, where they managed the underwriting of new and existing business for commercial operations in multiple states. James also held various roles at Harvard Pilgrim, including Director of Underwriting, Senior Underwriting Manager, and Underwriting Manager. Before their time at Harvard Pilgrim, James worked as an Underwriting Team Leader at Delta Dental of Massachusetts and as a Client Delivery Leader/Employee Benefits Consultant at Watson Wyatt Worldwide. James began their career as an Underwriting Consultant at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

James Vanasse holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Boston University. Prior to pursuing their MBA, they graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering Management/Mechanical Engineering. In addition, they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Accountancy from Bentley University.
