David Olive has over 25 years of experience in higher education, the majority of that experience in Christian higher education. He began his service at Bluefield College in July 2007.
Since his arrival, the College has embarked on multiple strategic plans; developed a Campus Master Plan; led construction of new residential facilities, East River Hall and Bluestone Commons, an apartment complex; renovated Shott Hall and Harman Chapel; and started masters programs at the College.
Prior to his arrival at Bluefield College, David was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Adult Programs at Pfeiffer University. He has also served in various roles at Carson-Newman University, Tennessee Tech University, and The University of Tennessee. In addition, David has practiced law and served as an associate and interim pastor.
David received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management at Tennessee Technological University, his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Tennessee College of Law, and his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is an ordained minister in the Baptist faith tradition and has chaired the Council of Independent Colleges of Virginia, the Appalachian College Association, the International Association of Baptist Colleges & Universities, serves on the NAIA Council of Presidents, along with the board of directors for the Appalachian Athletic Conference and the Virginia College Fund. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Bluefield, West Virginia, and is a Paul Harris Fellow.
David enjoys constructing things and renovation projects, along with snow and water skiing. He is married to Kathryn Robinson Olive, and they have two adult children, Kayla and Will.
