Lucas Sturnfield, P.E. has extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Currently, they serve as the Director of Engineering, North America at BMZ USA, Inc. In the past, Lucas worked at Inventus Power as the Principal Electrical Engineer and later as the Senior Electrical Engineer. During their time at Inventus Power, they oversaw electrical design engineering, led design reviews, and designed various circuits and battery systems. Before that, Lucas worked at Lixi Inc as an Electrical Engineer. Prior to that, they gained experience as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and as an Engineering Intern at Digital Design Corporation. Lucas also worked as an Electronics Service Shop Technician at the University of Illinois and as an Engineering Intern at Motorola Inc, where they contributed to system support and development of internal web solutions. Lucas began their career as a Research Programmer at the National Center for Super-Computing Applications, where they worked on a project involving the visualization of phylogenetic trees.
Lucas Sturnfield, P.E. has an extensive education history. Lucas began their academic journey at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, where they completed their high school education from 2000 to 2003. After that, Lucas pursued a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they successfully obtained in 2009.
In 2014, Lucas earned a Professional Engineer certification in Electrical Design from the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. Following this, they continued their education by pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2017.
Expanding their knowledge further, Lucas obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, specializing in Business Administration, Management, and Operations, from the University of Alaska Fairbanks between 2018 and 2021.
Currently, Lucas is working towards a Doctorate of Engineering in Quantum Computing at Old Dominion University, where they are expected to graduate in 2025.
