Neela Patel

Neela Patel has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Neela is currently working as the CBO at Bonum Therapeutics since September 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Business Development Officer at Good Therapeutics, Inc. from June 2021 to September 2022. Neela has also worked at Seattle Genetics as the Executive Director of Corporate Development from May 2016 to May 2021.

Neela'sprevious experience includes working at AbbVie as the Director of Search and Evaluation (Licensing) from September 2013 to April 2016. Neela's extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry also includes director-level positions at Abbott Laboratories, where they served as the Director of Global External Research from July 2009 to August 2013. Neela was responsible for augmenting AbbVie's discovery pipeline with external target/drugs and technologies, scouting for collaborative opportunities, and assessing incoming opportunities in various therapy areas.

Prior to Abbott, Neela worked as the Director of Preclinical and Translational Medicine at Poniard Pharmaceuticals from May 2006 to May 2009. Neela played a crucial role in developing the company's pipeline strategy, overseeing research budget management, and conducting pre-clinical diligence on licensing opportunities. Neela also held the position of Associate Director of Product Portfolio Management at Genentech from December 2003 to April 2006.

Neela began their career at SUGEN/Pharmacia as the Associate Director of Discovery Biology from October 2000 to September 2003. During this time, Neela demonstrated their leadership skills by securing management approval for a new therapy area and supervising a cell biology group for small molecule discovery. Neela was also part of the Ophthalmology Therapy Area Core Team and played a key role in identifying and evaluating in-licensing opportunities.

Neela's early experience includes working as a Research Scientist at Roche Bioscience from 1996 to 2000 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at DNAX Research Institute from 1993 to 1996. Throughout their career, Neela has showcased their expertise in areas such as corporate development, business development, licensing, preclinical research, and portfolio management.

Neela Patel obtained their Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University, majoring in Biology/Humanities. Neela pursued higher education at UCLA, where they completed their PhD in Molecular Biology.
