Ronan Cooney is a Sustainability Officer at Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Ireland's Seafood Development Agency, since June 2022. Prior to this role, Cooney served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Postgraduate Researcher at the National University of Ireland, Galway from October 2015 to May 2022. Experience also includes working as a Research Assistant at Inland Fisheries Ireland and as a Fisheries Analyst at the Marine Institute. Cooney gained early experience through internships and summer bursaries focused on fish husbandry and research activities. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on environmental assessment of freshwater aquaculture and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science, both from the University of Galway, complemented by a Leaving Certificate from Mercy College Woodford.
