Simon Barlow has a diverse and extensive work experience in the gaming industry. Simon started their career as a QA Tester at Bizarre Creations in 2000. Simon then worked as a Level Designer at Codemasters before joining Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in 2008 as a Design Manager. After Sony purchased Evolution Studios, Simon became the head of design for SCEE's North West Studio Group. Simon also worked at Evolution Studios, where they held various positions including QA Tester, Designer, Lead Designer, Assistant Game Director, and Design Director. In 2016, they worked as a UX Specialist at Slightly Mad Studios. Later, Simon joined Codemasters as a Game Director and Principal Games Designer, where they were responsible for the creative direction, design, and development of racing games. In 2020, they became the Game Director at Ubisoft Stockholm. Currently, Simon is the Design Director at Bossa Games.
Simon Barlow attended St. Gregory's R.C. High School from 1990 to 1995, where they obtained 9 GCSEs. Simon then attended Priestley College from 1995 to 1997 and earned 3 A Levels. Simon went on to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts from 1997 to 2000, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sound Technology. In addition to their formal education, Simon Barlow obtained a certification as a Certified Scrum Product Owner® from the Scrum Alliance in June 2011.
