Marty Milkovits

Marty Milkovits has a diverse work experience in the field of transportation planning and analysis. Marty currently holds the position of Director of Modeling and Analytics at the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), where they are responsible for overseeing modeling and analytics initiatives. Prior to this role, they served as the Associate Director of Regional Modeling and Analysis at the same organization.

Before joining the MPO, Marty worked at Cambridge Systematics, Inc., where they held various positions in the Travel Demand Forecasting business line. In these roles, they contributed to travel demand model estimation, development, validation, and application. Marty also participated in statistical analysis, modeling, survey design, and market research.

Marty also gained valuable research experience at MIT, where they worked as a Research Assistant in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) lab and the Transit Lab. Marty'sresearch focused on areas such as discrete choice and demand modeling techniques, activity-based models, freight transport modeling, and data collection methods for behavioral modeling. During their time at MIT, they were involved in the early design of a comprehensive simulation platform called SimMobility.

Earlier in their career, Marty worked as a Transportation and Systems Engineer at IBI Group, where they primarily focused on transit technology strategies and designs. Marty also served as a Deputy Project Manager for the analysis of the MBTA automatic passenger counting pilot program and was involved in the development of the Green Line real-time arrival notification system strategy.

Marty started their professional journey as a Software Engineer at SeaChange International, a leading provider of software applications and solutions for video-on-demand, digital advertising, and content acquisition. In this role, they served as a Systems Engineer and successfully managed a new system architecture cycle while also improving the storage subsystem hardware evaluation process.

Marty Milkovits obtained a BA in Philosophy of Math from Colby College in 1999. Later, they pursued a MS in Computer Science at Rivier University between 2002 and 2005. Lastly, they pursued a SM in Transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during 2006-2008.
