Katharine Perez

Katharine Perez is a dedicated journalism professional currently serving as a mentee in the New York Times Corps and a production assistant at Iowa Public Radio. Since August 2023, Katharine has also been a senior reporter for The Daily Iowan, following a tenure as news editor, digital producer, and news reporter for the same publication from August 2021 to June 2023. Prior experience includes a breaking news and trends internship at USA TODAY and a reporting news internship at Iowa City Press-Citizen. Alongside these roles, Katharine has been actively involved as a student ambassador and research assistant at the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication since August 2022. Katharine is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Iowa, expected in 2025, following a high school diploma from West Aurora High School obtained in May 2021.
