Cynthia teaches in the Legal Assistant Diploma program and has taught in the Administrative Professional program as well as in the Business Administrative Diploma, Accounting specialization. Cynthia has accumulated 20 years of adult education experience with 18 of those years spent with the Chiu School of Business. Prior to working in the Chiu School of Business, Cynthia was a legal assistant specializing in the area of family law in British Columbia and an in-house computer trainer.
When she moved from British Columbia to Alberta, Cynthia made the transition to adult education. In 2000, she began her next career as an adult educator at Bow Valley College. Cynthia’s passion for adult education and technology saw her embrace online learning wherein she is both an educator and a learner.
In past years at the College, Cynthia has been the treasurer for the faculty association, a member of the public accounts committee, co-chaired the March staff professional development day, was one of the first recipients of the CSI award, and provided training to the college for the Office 2007 rollout and to the Town of Banff and Canmore for their Office 2007 and 2010 rollout.
Cynthia is a lifelong learner and completed her Master's degree online in October 2016 while working full-time at the college. Over the past 17 years, she has completed the Management Seminars for Supervisory Personnel Certificate through Bow Valley College, the Adult Education Series Certificate through Mount Royal University, the Accounting Application Certificate through Bow Valley College, the Instructional Skills Workshop through SAIT, a legal secretary diploma (Honours), and a Master Microsoft Office Use Specialist course.
Cynthia has had the privilege of attending high school in Edson, Alberta with Jodi Abbott, President and CEO of Norquest College, and graduating from the Black Diamond Junior and Senior High School with Laureen Harper, wife of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
