Dr. Nilanjan Mukherjee

Principal Electrical and Electronics Engineer at Bowman Power Group

Dr. Nilanjan Mukherjee has had a long and varied career in the field of electrical and electronics engineering. Dr. Nilanjan has a PhD in electronics engineering specialising in power electronics and control followed by 10 years of industry experience in design and technology development in high power electronics.

Dr. Nilanjan began his career as a Development engineer at Tata Motors in 2009, then moved on to his PhD study in Birmingham with the Aston University in 2011. Following his PhD, he moved to the University of Birmingham, where he worked on various power electronics projects and grants related to Railways. At the end of 2015, they joined Siemens Drives Technology division as a Power Electronics Design Engineer, where they were part of a cross-functional team between the UK and Germany and was involved in research and development activities related to wide band gap devices (SiC and GaN). In 2018, they became a Senior Power Electronics Engineer at Turntide Technology (previously known as AVID Technology Group Limited), where they were the design lead for power electronics hardware architecture and control system development of high voltage and high power automotive power electronics products. Thereafter, he took a role in Turbo Power Systems as a Principal Power Electronics Engineer developing high power converters with SiC technology.

In 2021, they joined Bowman Power Group Ltd as a Principal Electrical and Electronics Engineer, where they are responsible for designing power electronics architecture and control methods to electrify turbomachinery with speeds greater than 50,000 rpm. He is also leading the whole electrical design team at Bowman.
