Katharine Swanson

Katharine Swanson has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Katharine started their career as an Admissions Office Student Ambassador at Boston College, where they gained presentation and communication skills while representing the university to prospective students and their families.

Katharine then transitioned to teaching, starting as a 5th/6th Grade Summer School Teacher at Saint Columbkille Elementary School, where they developed and implemented curriculum and supervised aides and counselors. Katharine continued their teaching career as a Full-practicum Student Teacher at North Quincy High School, where they took full responsibility for writing and implementing daily lesson plans for multiple Spanish classes and conducted an action research project.

Following that, they served as a Site Director at Let's Get Ready Non-Profit, where they managed an effective summer program for low-income, first-generation college-bound students, and as an English Language Assistant and Cultural Ambassador at the Ministerio de Educación, where they planned and implemented daily English lessons and collaborated with faculty on addressing multiple intelligences in assessments and lessons.

Katharine then became a High School Spanish Teacher at Braintree Public Schools, where they designed units and lessons aligned with Common Core Standards, integrated technology into the classroom, and actively participated in professional development opportunities. Katharine later served as a High School Spanish Teacher at Capuchino High School, where they designed curriculum, established a classroom culture of rigor and high expectations, and varied assessments to reach different types of learners.

Katharine'smost recent position was as an Education Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, where they supervised staff, managed tutoring and academic support sessions, and conducted educational programs covering various subjects. Throughout their career, Katharine has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in education and a dedication to continuous learning.

Katharine Swanson completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Secondary Education and Hispanic Studies at Boston College from 2009 to 2013. During their undergraduate years, they also studied at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid for a brief period in 2011 and Universidad Alberto Hurtado for a short duration in 2010. Additionally, they pursued a Master's Degree in Lengua y Cultura Españoles at Universidad de Salamanca from 2014 to 2015. Katharine Swanson also holds several certifications, including the CA Spanish Teaching Credential and the Massachusetts Certification for Spanish Grades 5-12 Communications and Literacy Skills.
