Suwagmani Hazarika has a diverse work experience spanning over 20 years. Suwagmani started their career in 2002 as a Junior Research Fellow at the University of Delhi, where they conducted research on the inactivation of monensin and the efficacy of liposomal monensin in treating malaria. Suwagmani also supervised Masters level students in the laboratory.
In 2007, Suwagmani joined Tufts University as a Senior Research Assistant, where they assisted the Principal Investigator in studying the molecular pharmacogenetic determinants of inter-individual variability in drug metabolizing enzymes. Suwagmani also conducted research on genetic variability related to acetaminophen-induced liver failure and performed drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic evaluations to support small molecule drug development.
From 2011 to the present, Suwagmani has been working at BPGbio Inc. in various roles. Suwagmani started as a Research Associate, where they focused on developing and validating potential drug targets for cancer and diabetes. Suwagmani also worked on assay development and optimization. Suwagmani was then promoted to Senior Research Associate, where they continued their work on drug targets and also created and reviewed laboratory SOPs.
In 2015, Suwagmani became a Scientist I at BPGbio Inc., where they validated drug targets derived from in vivo studies and designed and optimized cell and tissue-based assays. Suwagmani also supervised laboratory operations. In 2017, they transitioned to the role of Project and Alliance Management Lead, where they managed research and development teams for drug candidate identification and was responsible for budget forecasting, tracking, and communication.
Currently, Suwagmani is serving as a Senior Project Manager at BPGbio Inc., leading cross-functional teams and aligning project management best practices towards IND filing by drug candidate identification and development. Suwagmani manages project status updates, timelines, and budgets and interacts with government agencies, academic collaborators, and vendors.
Throughout their career, Suwagmani has demonstrated strong project management skills, expertise in drug candidate identification and development, and a proficiency in laboratory operations and assay development.
Suwagmani Hazarika completed a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, Hazarika obtained a Bachelor's degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from Banaras Hindu University, from 1997 to 2000.
