Kenneth Wu

Senior Design Engineer at BrainChip

Kenneth Wu has extensive work experience in the field of semiconductor design and engineering.

Kenneth started their career in 2001 at Lincom Wireless, where they worked as a Hardware Engineer. Their responsibilities included FPGA RTL analysis and synthesis, P&R, debugging, and verification.

In 2002, Kenneth joined Winbond as an ASIC Design Engineer. Here, they were responsible for the Real-time FPGA Emulation System for WLAN 802.11a/b/g ASIC. Kenneth gained extensive experience in RTL simulation, synthesis, P&R, and hardware debugging.

From 2005 to 2006, Kenneth worked at Technovare Systems Inc. as a Hardware Design Engineer. Kenneth single-handedly designed a key chip called Data Formatter for an Aerospace project. The chip provided interfaces with a 2Gbit/s throughput, maintained 32 open files, and included various functions.

At Axiom Microdevices, starting in 2006, Kenneth served as a Senior Digital Design Engineer. Here, they designed a digital PA pre-distortion block model in MATLAB and C for UMTS application. Kenneth also single-handedly designed and verified digital circuits from system-level architecture to RTL coding.

From 2009 to 2013, Kenneth worked at indie Semiconductor as an Engineer and was the second employee in the company.

Kenneth joined Himax Imaging in 2013 as a Principal Engineer ASIC Design. Kenneth led an ASIC team and was responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of digital circuits in CMOS image censor. Kenneth also handled ASIC synthesis, logic equivalence checking, and static timing analysis.

From 2016 to 2018, Kenneth served as the President, North America at Yinscorp Ltd.

Currently, Kenneth Wu is employed at BrainChip Holdings Limited as a Senior Design Engineer. Kenneth works with neural scientists to design, implement, and verify proprietary neural network ASIC. Kenneth focuses on AI unsupervised learning algorithm implementation and power consumption optimization. Kenneth is the main designer of the AKIDA convolution neuron processor unit.

Kenneth Wu completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering at National Taiwan University from 1993 to 1997. Afterward, they pursued further education and obtained their Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from the University of Southern California in 1999.
