Jon Herlocker has a strong background in optical sciences and engineering. Jon started their career as a Staff Engineer at IBM in 1983 and worked there until 2000. During their time at IBM, they focused on optical systems and engineering. From 1996 to 2000, they worked as a Graduate Research Associate at the University of Arizona Optical Sciences Center. In 2000, they joined Agilent Technologies as a Principal Scientist, where they specialized in the development of optical precision test and measurement equipment, with a concentration on optical communication applications. Jon worked at Agilent Technologies until 2002. In 2003, Jon joined Breault Research Organization (BRO) as a Principal Optical Scientist and later became the Director of Technical Support & Applications Engineering. At BRO, they developed expertise in optical systems analysis, optical materials, and optical measurement techniques. Jon worked at BRO until the present. In 2010, Jon became an Adjunct Professor at The University of Arizona, College of Optical Sciences, where they have been teaching since then. In 2014, they also worked as an Instructor at the University of California, Irvine Extension. In 2016, they briefly served as the Vice President of Software Development at Airy Optics, Inc. Overall, Jon Herlocker has a diverse work experience in optical sciences, engineering, education, and management.
Jon Herlocker earned their Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona from 1996 to 2000. Prior to their Ph.D., they pursued an M.S. in Physics from the University of Connecticut and earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
