Jonathan Stephenson

Jonathan Stephenson is an accomplished local government leader with extensive experience in driving strategic initiatives and partnerships. Currently serving as Chief Executive for both Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council, Jonathan has successfully developed the Brentwood 2025 Corporate Strategy and established a strategic partnership that aims to create shared management, generating significant savings. Additionally, Jonathan holds leadership roles as the South Essex Councils Lead CEO for Infrastructure, Housing & Digital and represents the East of England in the District Council's Network Chief Executive Group. Previously, Jonathan has held key positions in Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils and managed wholly-owned companies, focusing on housing services and commercial property investments. Jonathan's educational background includes a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Suffolk and a BTech in Engineering from Suffolk New College, complemented by various leadership and management training programs.
