Sean Macrae joined Bridgewater in 2008 and is co-Head of the Investment Engine and a Partner at the firm. He shares responsibility for the strategy and oversight of the Investment Engine and partners with the CIOs and Investment Committee to set and drive the firm’s key investment strategies and priorities in the Research department. Prior to his current role, Sean was co-Head of Research Analytics and led Bridgewater’s currency investment research, building and overseeing systematic investment strategies responsible for the firm’s currency views in the developed and emerging world. He also previously led Bridgewater’s China research, working closely with Bridgewater’s CIOs to understand China’s growing role in the global financial and economic landscape and provide insight on investing in China to Bridgewater’s clients. Sean oversaw Bridgewater’s Investment Associate talent program and led the firm’s nine-month intensive first-year investment development program to train and assess new hires on the core macroeconomic fundamentals and linkages and asset classes Bridgewater trades. Sean is a Millennium Fellow at the Atlantic Council and graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Economics and a minor in Japanese.
