Michelle A. McSweeney, PhD

Michelle A. McSweeney, PhD has a diverse work experience starting from 2008. Michelle A. has worked as a Linguistic Consultant and an Education Volunteer in Peace Corps Uganda, where they developed training programs and teaching materials for language trainers. At City University of New York, they held the role of Lecturer. Michelle A. worked at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) as a Digital Research and Technology Fellow, where they advised on digital research projects and taught Python and QGIS. Michelle A. also worked as a Doctoral Researcher, collecting and analyzing a corpus of text messages to study the relationship between text messaging and literacy.

Michelle A. served as a Research Scientist at Columbia University, where they used Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning to study argument strategies on politically charged issues. Michelle A. McSweeney, PhD has an extensive education history in the fields of Linguistics, Interactive Technology, and Pedagogy. Michelle A. earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from The Graduate Center, City University of New York in 2016. During their time at The Graduate Center, they focused on the intersection of linguistics and interactive technology and pedagogy.

In 2015, Michelle attended the University of Oxford where they participated in the Summer Doctoral Programme offered by the Oxford Internet Institute. This experience provided their with additional knowledge and insights in their chosen field.

Prior to their doctoral studies, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Michigan State University in 2004.
