Florin Ion has a diverse work experience in the field of systems operations and engineering. From 1995 to 1999, they worked as a Senior Systems Engineer at Informix Romania, where they were involved in consulting, training, design, implementation, and management of Information Systems projects. From 2000 to 2001, they worked as a Systems Consultant at Lee Enterprises, where they maintained an Apache, HTML, Perl, CGI application. From 2001 to 2005, they worked as a Senior Systems Engineer (IBM contract) at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where they designed and developed C(EFI) applications. Since 2005, they have been working at Encyclopaedia Britannica, first as a Principal Systems Engineer and currently as the Director of Systems Operations. In this role, they lead a team and is responsible for managing the cloud infrastructure, data centers, servers, and network, as well as researching and proposing new technologies to improve IT systems efficiency.
Florin Ion obtained a BS degree in Computer Science from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, where they studied from 1990 to 1995.
