Matt Reed

Matt Reed has extensive experience in emergency medicine and academic research. Matt has held various roles at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, including Chair of the RCEM Research Committee and RCEM Professor. Matt has also served as the Regional Ultrasound Lead and Regional College Academic Lead for South-East Scotland. Additionally, Matt has held honorary positions at The University of Edinburgh as an Honorary Professor, Reader, and Senior Lecturer in Emergency Medicine. Matt is currently the Chief Investigator for the British Heart Foundation's ASPIRED study and serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Emergency Care Journal. Matt is also involved in various committees and groups, such as the EUSEM Research Committee, Scottish Transfusion and Laboratory Support in Trauma Group, and the European Society of Cardiology. Matt is a member of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and is the Director of Research for the Emergency Medicine Research Group Edinburgh (EMERGE).

Matt Reed has a MA MB BCHIR degree in Medicine from the University of Cambridge, which they obtained from 1992 to 1997. Matt later pursued further education at the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, specializing in Emergency Medicine under the FRCEM program starting in 2006. Matt also attended the Royal College of Surgeons of England, working towards a MRCS degree from 2000 onwards. Prior to their higher education, they completed their secondary education at Ilford County High School from 1985 to 1992.
