Richard Blewitt is an accomplished leader in the non-profit and international development sectors, currently serving as the Executive Director International at the British Red Cross since February 2021. Prior to this role, Richard held significant positions including IFRC Permanent Observer and Director of the NY office to the UN at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from July 2018 to February 2021, and Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative at the United Nations from April 2013 to June 2018. Richard's extensive experience includes serving as CEO of HelpAge International, where leadership resulted in a doubling of income and recognition with the Hilton Humanitarian Prize, and as a Director at IFRC and the British Red Cross, focusing on strategic development and innovative performance. Richard's early career included roles at United Nations OCHA and Save the Children UK, specializing in food security policy and program development in East Africa. Richard holds a Master’s degree in Africa Politics and Economics from SOAS University of London and a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Surrey.
