John H. Simpson

John H. Simpson has over 30 years of experience as a leading investment banker and financial services executive. Prior to joining Broadhaven, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Canyon Partners, a global alternative investment firm with over $25 billion in assets under management. Prior to Canyon, he was Vice Chairman of Wasserstein Perella & Co., where he was a senior mergers and acquisitions professional and ran several of the firm’s largest business units. Prior to joining Wasserstein Perella, Mr. Simpson practiced law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and served as a Law Clerk to a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Simpson’s first job was as a Patrol Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Simpson is a Commissioner (Trustee) of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery, a member of the Board of Directors of Lurie Children’s Hospital, a Commissioner of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Discipline Commission (which, under the Illinois Supreme Court, regulates the legal profession in Illinois), and a member of the Board of Directors of Navy Pier. He is active in politics and was an Elector from California of the 2012 Electoral College. Mr. Simpson is a graduate of Williams College (A.B., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa (junior year), Economics and Political Science) and Harvard Law School (J.D., magna cum laude; Editor, Harvard Law Review).
