David Stanton

David Stanton has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and consulting. David is currently serving as the Vice President of Cybersecurity Services and CISO at Buchanan Technologies. Prior to their current role, they worked at AlixPartners as a Digital/Cybersecurity Innovator and Advisor.

In 2019, David founded their own company called Critical Security Professionals LLC, where they served as the Chief Executive Officer and Consultant. During their time at the company, they led various projects in ISO compliance and strategy, GRC solution design for healthcare, and service development for IT consulting.

From 2013 to 2019, David worked at Protiviti, where they held the position of Managing Director, Security and Privacy Executive. David led cybersecurity consulting services in Dallas and national cybersecurity healthcare initiatives. David also acted as a CIO advisor for a large entertainment company and as an interim CISO/Director of Security for a major healthcare provider. Additionally, they frequently spoke and taught at industry events.

In 2013, David also served in leadership roles at the ISSA - North Texas Chapter, including Executive Forum Events Director and Vice President.

Earlier in their career, David worked at Accenture as a Senior Manager, focusing on data protection and privacy. David provided advisory services to executives in multiple Fortune 100 companies and managed significant projects.

From 2004 to 2009, David was a Manager at PwC, where they specialized in security design, data protection, governance compliance, and operational controls. David also managed IT audit and consulting teams.

Prior to that, David worked at Open Technology Solutions as the Manager and Information Security Officer, supporting financial institutions with their security needs.

At the start of their career, David was an Associate Engineer to Advanced Systems Engineer at Rush Creek Solutions, where they worked on system implementations, migrations, firewall security, and backup administration.

David Stanton earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus in Managerial Information Systems from Baylor University - Hankamer School of Business between 1994 and 1998.
