Fela Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries. In 1993, they founded a limited edition premium fashion umbrella brand called Charlie Pie, which gained recognition and was featured on national TV. After four successful years, Fela decided to stop the business due to the need for significant funding to scale.
In 1996, Fela co-founded Jump Ltd, where they played a significant role until 2001.
From 2001 to 2002, Fela worked as a Deployment Manager for pricing tools at Compaq Computer Corporation.
Starting in 2002, Fela joined Hewlett-Packard, where they held two roles. As a Sales Operations Program Manager for Proposals, they led programs aimed at improving efficiency and quality, receiving two company awards for breakthrough Pricing Operations programs. Later, as a Sales Operations Program Manager for the Mid Market, Fela conceived and coordinated a catalogue pricing initiative that significantly reduced cost-to-quote and time-to-quote.
In 2012, Fela founded Quadrigal Bid Process Engineering, a boutique consultancy that helped clients improve their sales and bidding strategies. Fela developed a highly effective lead generation methodology, consistently delivering 10x ROI in cost savings to clients in sectors such as data analytics, facilities management, and pharmaceuticals. Fela also had the opportunity to speak at the APMP industry association UK annual conference twice.
In 2017, Fela co-founded Buengo, a UK-focused e-commerce marketplace app that combines sustainability and responsible consumption with social good. The app allows people to sell things they no longer need and donate money to charities and other causes. Additionally, Buengo helps companies meet their ESG goals in a meaningful way.
Lastly, in 2020, Fela founded 1st Thing Apps and became a Visiting Professor at TBS in Barcelona.
Fela Hughes has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science & Electronics from The University of Edinburgh. Additionally, Fela is a member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals, as well as a Competent Toastmaster (CTM) certified by Toastmasters International UK & Ireland.
