Aaron Thomas

Aaron Thomas has a diverse work experience ranging from research roles in entomology and biotechnology to executive positions in the food industry. Their most recent role is as the COO and Co-founder of Better Universal Grub, a company focused on sustainable food production. Prior to that, they served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the UK Edible Insect Association.

In terms of their scientific background, Aaron has worked as an Entomologist and Research Scientist at Arctech Innovation, where they developed innovative biotechnology solutions to control arthropod pests. Aaron also worked as a Research Technician at the University of East Anglia, studying sexual competition in female fruit flies. Furthermore, they served as an Assistant Entomologist at the John Innes Centre, assessing the effectiveness of entomopathogenic fungi for pest control.

Aaron Thomas completed their Master's Degree in Applied Ecology and Conservation at the University of East Anglia from 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Ecology from the same institution, spanning from 2012 to 2015. Aaron also pursued A Levels in Environmental Science, Biology, Media, and Chemistry at Colchester Sixth form between 2010 and 2012. Their high school education took place at Philip Morant School from 2005 to 2010, where they obtained their GCSE's. In addition to their formal education, Aaron obtained a certification in the Startup Foundation Programme from Activate in November 2020.
