Ian Lancaster began their education by attending the University of Colorado Denver from 2010 to 2015. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

In 2016, Ian attended the Turing School of Software & Design, where they focused on Front End Engineering. The program covered various aspects of web development, including Javascript, React, Redux, Ember, Node, Express, React Native, Electron, Sketch, and Invision. Ian completed their studies at the school in 2017.

Ian also obtained additional certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. In July 2018, they earned the "Exam 480: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3" certification from Microsoft. Later, in February 2023, Ian achieved both the "Graph Developer - Associate" and "Graph Developer - Professional" certifications from Apollo GraphQL.
