Kim Axelrod is the Chief Operating Officer at Bully Pulpit Interactive (BPI), based in the Washington, D.C., office.
Kim joins from BCW Global where she was an EVP and COO of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. As COO, she helped manage the market P&L and steered the success of the office by ensuring client satisfaction and growth, talent retention and development, and financial effectiveness. She also facilitated integration across D.C.-based BCW Group sister companies including the firm’s lobbying, research and creative divisions to bring the best to bear for clients.
Concurrently, Kim also served as North America Client Leader for one of the firm’s largest global clients, Bank of America. In this role, she led BCW’s full portfolio of work for the bank including enterprise-focused communications (corporate reputation, ESG and public policy) as well as product and services PR across BofA’s lines of business at the national and local level. In this capacity, Kim managed a 150+ BCW member team across the U.S. and international markets.
Previously in her tenure at BCW (then Burson-Marsteller), Kim had a variety of other focus areas including: the Client Center of Excellence, driving organic growth and sharing best practices across the agency’s top clients; leading the launch of a global employee culture initiative, the “Burson Promise;” and managing operations for the firm’s grassroots division, Direct Impact.
Earlier in her career, Kim spent time in-house at Visa in San Francisco, where she joined just prior to Visa’s IPO in 2008. She was part of the corporate communications team focused on media and analyst relations and corporate website overhaul to re-introduce the new Visa Inc., launching the company’s Currency of Progress campaign, and later led a variety of executive communications efforts for the Board of Directors and quarterly earnings. After relocating to Washington, D.C., she was also part of the corporate communications team at then social commerce-giant LivingSocial.
Kim is originally from Teaneck, NJ, and graduated with distinction from The University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce.
