Richard Filer has a diverse range of work experience in the finance industry. Richard currently holds the position of Commercial Partnership Manager at bunq, where they are responsible for developing and executing commercial partnership strategies, managing procurement processes, and driving cost-saving initiatives. Prior to this, Richard worked as a Private Banker at Rand Merchant Bank, where they played a lead role in handling transactional, lending, investment, risk, and fiduciary needs for clients. Richard also had extensive product knowledge in capital markets, risk management, investment management, and trust and estate planning. Before joining Rand Merchant Bank, Richard worked as a Wealth Specialist at Warwick Wealth, where they provided financial modeling, analysis, risk-tolerance assessments, and retirement illustrations to high net-worth clients. Additionally, they analyzed global financial markets and oversaw relationships with high- and ultra-high-net-worth clients. Richard also had a role as a (Secondment) Project Manager at Overseas Trust and Pension, where they gained valuable project management experience. Finally, Richard started their career as an Associate Wealth Advisor at deVere Group, where they helped clients create wealth by finding financial strategies and investment vehicles tailored to their needs.
Richard Filer completed their Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management and Economics from the University of Cape Town from 2010 to 2013. In 2014, they obtained the International Certificate in Wealth and Investment Management from The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI). From 2004 to 2009, they completed their Cambridge A'Levels at St. John's College.
