Heather Ake

Heather Ake has extensive experience in tax and finance roles. Heather started their career as a Personal Property Tax Accountant at Joseph C. Sansone Company in 2000 and later became a State & Local Tax Accountant. From 2006 to 2008, they served as the Tax Compliance Manager at Bakers Footwear Group, Inc. Ake then joined Aegion Corporation in 2008, where they held various positions, including Sr. Tax Accountant, Manager of Indirect Tax, Sr. Tax Manager, and finally Tax Director from 2020 to 2022. Currently, they are working as the Indirect Tax Manager at Burkland since May 2022 and has recently been promoted to the role of Indirect Tax Director in May 2023.

Heather Ake has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting and Business/Management from the University of Illinois Springfield. Heather has also obtained additional certifications including "Onboarding with Avalara Streamlined Sales Tax" from Avalara University and "Certified Member of the Institute (CMI)" from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.
