Marissa Sterling is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in law, policy, and environmental consulting. Currently serving as a Platform Associate at Burnt Island Ventures since March 2022, Marissa has a strong focus on supporting entrepreneurs in the water sector. Previous experiences include roles as a Legal Fellow at both New Markets Lab and Shipfair Global, a Legal Intern at The Center For Water Security and Cooperation, and a Legal Design Intern with the U.S. Department of Justice. Marissa has also contributed to environmental initiatives as a Policy Specialist and Graduate Research Assistant at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and served as an Environmental Consultant for a capstone project with NYC DEP. Educated at institutions such as Columbia University, Georgetown University Law Center, Sciences Po, and The Jewish Theological Seminary, Marissa holds multiple degrees, including a Doctor of Law and a Master in Economic Law, emphasizing sustainable development and environmental policy.
