Derek MacLean

Derek Maclean is a versatile professional with extensive experience in business development, digital marketing, and education. Currently serving as a Business Development Adviser for Business Gateway since September 2017, Derek specializes in providing tailored advice to SMEs, guiding them through funding applications and digital growth strategies. In addition, Derek holds the position of Non Executive Director at Third Sector Hebrides, where strategic leadership and operational efficiency improvement are priorities. As Managing Director of Heb Web Design Ltd, Derek designs custom websites and advises clients on digital marketing strategies. Derek's background also includes significant contributions as a Firefighter with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service since 2009, and previous roles as a lecturer and head of the Business Department at UHI North, West and Hebrides, and as a Software Engineer at GreenspaceLive. Derek's education comprises a BSc (Hons) in Internet Software Development from Glasgow Caledonian University, a PgCert in e-Marketing from UHI, and a PgCert in Teacher Education from the University of Aberdeen.
