Sophie Huet has a diverse work experience in the field of language education and translation. Sophie began their career in 2009 as a Teacher of French at Cactus Language Training and continued teaching French at various institutions such as South Thames College, Learn French in London, and Professional Language Solutions. During this time, they taught students of all levels and ages using established methodologies and personalized communicative methods.
In 2014, Sophie worked as a French lecturer for the UK Ministry of Defence, where they taught military personnel to become fluent in French within a year. Sophie focused on the four core skills and followed the NATO Standardisation Agreement. Sophie also worked as a French lecturer again in 2017 for the same organization.
From 2018 to 2020, Sophie worked as a Teacher of French at the Anglo European School, where they taught classes and was responsible for lesson planning, assessing student progress, and creating a French database of materials. Sophie also coordinated cultural trips and linguistic exchanges.
Sophie had a freelance career alongside their teaching roles, working as a Freelance Translator and Proofreader for companies and organizations such as Marlboro, Neurolife, and the University of Westminster. Sophie translated commercial videos, medical and administrative texts, and academic texts for Master students.
Most recently, Sophie has been working at Busuu, starting as a French Language Expert in 2019 and progressing to the roles of Senior Learning Designer and Lead Learning Designer. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Learning Design.
Throughout their career, Sophie has demonstrated a strong passion for teaching French and a dedication to creating engaging and effective learning experiences.
Sophie Huet began their education at lycee Philibet Dessaignes from 1994 to 1997, where they obtained a Baccalaureat degree with a focus on Literature and languages, specifically German and English. Subsequently, from 1997 to 2003, they attended Université de Tours and completed their Master's degree in Lettres Modernes. Later, from 2003 to 2005, Sophie pursued further education at Université Paris-Sorbonne, earning a Master's degree in F.L.E. In 2010, they enrolled at Canterbury Christ Church University for a PGCE qualification, which they completed in 2012.
