Juan A. Casals Ovalle

Juan A. Casals Ovalle serves as Global Head of Sustainable Finance at BBVA C&IB since June 2004, and has held multiple roles within the organization, including Director of Environmental, Social, and Reputational Risk. As an investor with Byld since 2019 and BackFund since 2021, Juan focuses on transforming industries and supporting seed-stage tech startups. Involved with numerous impactful startups since 2013, Juan also contributes as a member of the Sustainable Finance Working Group for both the Institute of International Finance and the European Banking Federation. Additionally, Juan lectures on Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Finance and has held leadership roles in various organizations, including the Equator Principles Association and the Spanish Group for Green Growth. Juan's educational background includes advanced degrees in Corporate Social Responsibility, Quality and Environment, Philosophy, and Economics from several esteemed institutions.
