General Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Must have Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification

• Act as Quality Control Inspector (QCI) for AISC structural steel fabrications

• Maintain weld inspection reports, certificates of conformance, corrective action reports (CAR’s), corrective action report logs, and calibration records

• Summarize and report quality conformance as required

• MS office, CAD, MRP software skills preferred

• Weld/fabricate metal components/structures using relevant techniques (MIG, TIG, and Stick welding) with a focus on quality

• Read and interpret blueprints and shop and design drawings to fabricate metal

• Position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

• Inspect all work for defects, dimensions, alignment, and end preparations; report discrepancies to management to sustain quality assurance standards and requirements.

• Operate and maintain a variety of tools, including drills, lathes, mills, plasma cutters, bandsaws and grinders

• Collaborate with other team members to complete project requirements on time

• Follow all relevant safety requirements and regulations

• Willingness to learn and grow professionally

• AWS D1.1/D1.1M Certification preferred

• Previous experience working in a shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment a plus

• Frequently required to stand, use hands to hold hand and power tools, finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. Work also requires the ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

• Ability to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs
