General Responsibilities & Requirements:
Must have Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
Act as Quality Control Inspector (QCI) for AISC structural steel fabrications
Maintain weld inspection reports, certificates of conformance, corrective action reports (CAR’s), corrective action report logs, and calibration records
Summarize and report quality conformance as required
MS office, CAD, MRP software skills preferred
Weld/fabricate metal components/structures using relevant techniques (MIG, TIG, and Stick welding) with a focus on quality
Read and interpret blueprints and shop and design drawings to fabricate metal
Position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
Inspect all work for defects, dimensions, alignment, and end preparations; report discrepancies to management to sustain quality assurance standards and requirements.
Operate and maintain a variety of tools, including drills, lathes, mills, plasma cutters, bandsaws and grinders
Collaborate with other team members to complete project requirements on time
Follow all relevant safety requirements and regulations
Willingness to learn and grow professionally
AWS D1.1/D1.1M Certification preferred
Previous experience working in a shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment a plus
Frequently required to stand, use hands to hold hand and power tools, finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. Work also requires the ability to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Ability to lift or carry up to 10 or 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs
