Alex Collins, CAPM

Alex Collins, CAPM, has a diverse work experience in project management and the museum industry. In their most recent role as a Project Manager at Cadmium since October 2022, they are responsible for overseeing and executing various projects. Prior to that, they worked as a Professional Development Manager at the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) from November 2018 to October 2022, focusing on implementing and managing programs for professional development.

Before their role at AASLH, they served as a Conservation Technician at Bynon Art Services LLC from September 2017 to October 2018, where they worked on preserving and restoring artworks. They also had experience as a Museum Technician with the National Park Service from May 2016 to September 2017, contributing to the maintenance and exhibition of museum collections.

Their career began as the Director of Collections and Education at the Historic Sam Davis Home from April 2014 to May 2016, where they oversaw collections management and educational initiatives. Through these roles, Alex has gained valuable project management and museum industry experience.

Alex Collins, CAPM, completed a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2022. Prior to that, from 2012 to 2017, Collins pursued Graduate Studies in Public History at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). In 2011, Collins attained a Bachelor's degree in History from MTSU after completing an Associate's degree in History at Columbia State Community College in 2009. In terms of additional certifications, Collins obtained the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute in August 2022. Additionally, Collins obtained certifications in Project Initiation: Starting a Successful Project and Project Planning: Putting It All Together from Coursera in July 2022. Collins also holds the College of Education Graduate Certificate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, acquired in May 2022. Furthermore, Collins obtained certifications in Creating Inclusive Learning Experiences and Elearning Essentials: Instructional Design from LinkedIn in April 2022. Lastly, Collins completed the Foundations of Project Management certification course from Coursera in June 2021.
