Carlos Coutinho

Carlos Coutinho, PhD, PMP has extensive experience in research, academia, and project management. Carlos served as the Research and Development Engineering Director at Caixa Mágica Software, where they worked as a Research Engineer and Senior R&D Project Manager. Carlos also held the position of CEO at the same company. Carlos is an Assistant Professor at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and a Researcher and Coordinator at ISTAR-Iscte. Carlos was a Guest Assistant Professor at ISGB - Instituto Superior de Gestão Bancária and ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Carlos worked as a Researcher at NOVA School of Science and Technology. Additionally, Carlos also has experience as a Project Management Trainer at PMO Projects Group, a University Teacher at ISCAL-Lisbon Accounting and Business School, and a Project Manager / Quality Consultant at Critical Software. Carlos also served as a Consultant at Portugal Telecom Sistemas de Informação.

Carlos Coutinho, PhD, PMP has an extensive education history. Carlos obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa from 2007 to 2013. In addition, they completed a Post-Graduation in Project Management at Instituto Superior Bissaya Barreto from 2009 to 2010. Prior to that, Carlos earned a Licentiate degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ISEL - Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa from 1994 to 1997, and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the same institution from 1990 to 1994. Carlos also attended Escola Secundária D. Pedro V from 1989 to 1990, where they completed their high school education with a focus on software. Carlos has additional certifications, including Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals and Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, which were obtained in 2022. Carlos obtained their Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification from the Project Management Institute in 2010 and has an ECDL - European Computer Driver's Licence from ICDL Europe in 2005. Additionally, Carlos obtained a NATO Secret Clearance from GNS - Gabinete Nacional de Segurança in 2010.
