Shelly Damron

Shelly Damron is the current VP of Physician Services at Caldwell UNC Health Care. Shelly has over fifteen years of experience in health care administration, with a focus on primary care.

Shelly began their career in 2004 as an Operations Manager for Cabell Huntington Hospital. In this role, they oversaw the hospital's physician practices, which included over 70 providers. Shelly was responsible for budgeting, quality metrics, and staff management.

In 2008, Shelly became the Director of Practice Operations for Bon Secours Health System. In this role, they oversaw all aspects of the system's physician practices, including budgeting, contracting, quality metrics, and staff management. Shelly was also responsible for launching the AthenaNet practice management system across the system.

In 2011, Shelly joined CaroMont Health as the Executive Director of Primary Care. In this role, they oversaw 22 primary care and urgent care practices, consisting of over 190 staff. Shelly was responsible for budgeting, quality metrics, contract negotiation, and community partnerships.

During their time at CaroMont Health, Shelly implemented Level Three PCMH designation across all primary care locations and restructured physician contracts. Shelly also facilitated ACO model initiatives and launched the AthenaNet practice management system implementation. Under their leadership, the primary care division's gross revenue grew by 20%.

Shelly Damron has a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University and a Regents Bachelor of Arts from Marshall University. Shelly also has certification from the American Health Information Managment Association as a Registered Health Information Technician and from the American Academy of Professional Coders as a Certified Physician Coder.

Their manager is Laura Easton, President & CEO. They are on a team with Michael Bunch - Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Rebecca Smith - VP & Chief Operating Officer, and John Powell - Chief of Staff.
