Val Mina has a diverse work experience in the creative field. From 1992 to 1999, they worked as an Illustrator/Designer at the Los Angeles Times. They then joined The Sacramento Bee in 2001 and held various roles, including Design Director, Presentations Director for Features, and Senior Designer/Illustrator. At The Sacramento Bee, they supervised designers, oversaw design and illustration for five entertainment and lifestyle sections, and created editorial illustrations. In 2011, Val Mina worked as a Sr. Designer/Illustrator at the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGATE. From 2012 to 2018, they served as a Senior Graphic Designer/Illustrator/Photographer at the California Dental Association. In 2018, they started their own studio, Val B.
