Vernon Harper

Vernon Harper is the current Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at California State University, Bakersfield. Vernon has held this position since April 2016. Prior to that, they served as the Associate Vice President for Academic Administration at West Chester University from July 2012 to April 2016. From August 2009 to December 2012, they were the Associate Provost at Wilkes University. Vernon also served as the Associate for Academic Affairs at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia from April 2007 to August 2009. Harper began their career as an Assistant Professor at Cal State San Bernardino in August 1999 before being promoted to Associate Professor at Christopher Newport University in August 2003, a position they held until May 2007.

Vernon Harper completed their undergraduate degree at Penn State University in Communication. Vernon then went on to complete their Master's degree in Rhetoric and Communication at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Finally, they completed their Ph.D. in Human Communication at Howard University.
