Seb Ruiz

Seb Ruiz has a wealth of experience in the technology industry. Seb started their career in 2003 as an Open Source Developer for KDE, where they worked on the Amarok music player. In 2006, they were an Administrator for Google Summer of Code. From 2008 to 2012, Seb was a Research Assistant at the University of New South Wales and a Photographer for Seb Ruiz Photography. In 2008, they also began working at Atlassian as an Engineering Manager, a Development Team Lead for Bitbucket Data Center, a Team Lead for FishEye & Crucible, and a Java & Front-End Developer. In 2019, Seb became the Director of Engineering at Canva, where they led the design, development and launch of the Canva App Store / Ecosystem platform, grew the engineering team from 10 to 120 engineers, identified, negotiated and integrated background remover capabilities into Canva, and was responsible for the technical due diligence for Canva's largest acquisitions. In 2022, Seb became the CTO at Calven.

Seb Ruiz obtained a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) between 2003 and 2008. Seb also holds a Senior First Aid certification.
