Elliot Akama-Garren

Elliot Akama-Garren, PhD, serves as an HMX Intern and Moderator at Harvard Medical School since May 2019, while also acting as a Resident Tutor in Kirkland House at Harvard University. Academic tutoring is provided at Cambridge Coaching from September 2018. From September 2019 to May 2023, Elliot contributed as a Graduate Student Researcher at Boston Children's Hospital under the mentorship of Michael Carroll, PhD. Additional roles include Clinical Scientist at nference from September 2020 to March 2023, and Research Assistant positions at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Previous experiences encompass roles as a Graduate Student at Ludwig Cancer Research, MIT UROP at the Koch Institute, and Research Assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital. Elliot's education includes an MD-PhD in Health Sciences and Technology with a focus on Immunology from Harvard Medical School, along with a PhD in Immunology from Harvard University, Master's degrees from the University of Oxford in Clinical Medicine and Neuroscience, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
