Principal Software Engineer at Cambridge Mobile Telematics

Brian Avery's work experience begins in 1992 at Automatix Inc, where they served as a Senior Systems Engineer. During their time there, they developed a device driver interface for a next-generation machine vision platform and designed and implemented a new vision measurement algorithm. Brian also worked as a Systems Engineer on SBIR projects related to offline robotic motion control and laboratory automation.

In 1996, Avery joined Leaf Systems, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. While there, they implemented a live video mode and resolved a long-standing bug in the PLD and device driver layers that caused Macintosh and camera reboots.

From 1997 to 2002, Avery worked at Compaq as a Research Staff member. Brian'sresponsibilities included developing Linux device drivers and bootloaders for early Linux-on-ARM handheld devices. Brian also developed device driver and VHDL code for real-time video processing.

In 2002, Avery joined Hewlett-Packard Laboratories as a Research Staff member. During this time, they developed software for a series of featherweight wireless 802.15.4 communication and sensor devices.

Starting in 2005, Avery worked at Nokia in various roles, including Research Staff and Advanced Engineering. Brian optimized power performance on an Android-based consumer product and explored using the Android bionic base layer for non-Dalvik-based UIs.

In 2015, Avery worked as a Consultant before transitioning to Intel Corporation as an Embedded Software Architect. At Intel, they played a key role in the initial transition of Starlingx, a cloud infrastructure software project.

Most recently, in 2018, Avery became a Principal Software Engineer at Cambridge Mobile Telematics. Brian worked on several generations of an in-vehicle audio-video telematics device and was involved in various aspects, including audio/video streaming, networking, and OTA updates. Brian also developed and maintained a container-based build system.

Brian Avery holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.E.) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they completed from 1990 to 1992. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.E.) from the same institution from 1985 to 1989. Brian's education history also includes attendance at "lsmsa" for an unspecified period, with no degree or field of study specified. In addition to their formal education, they have recently obtained certifications in "ChatGPT Advanced Data Analysis" from Vanderbilt University and "Trustworthy Generative AI" from Coursera in 2023.
