Mark Hurley is the Vice President of International Communications at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. Mark has over 20 years of experience in communications and marketing, having worked with some of the world's leading NGOs.
Hurley began their career as an Associate Director of Communications and Promotions for the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy in Washington, D.C. In this role, they managed a team of two direct reports and oversaw the production of external communications and special events, including a nationwide bicycling event. Mark was also responsible for writing copy for the organization's membership magazine, website, and press events. In 2000, they moved to the World Wildlife Fund, where they served as Senior Program Officer for Marketing and Communications. In this role, they were responsible for managing a team of five international staff members and multiple contractors, developing a comprehensive communications plan, training colleagues on best practices for communications, overseeing stakeholder relations, and supporting the founding of national parks in West Africa and Indonesia. Mark also developed a branding and marketing strategy for the Global Forest & Trade Network, which included building up to 300 business members with $45B in forest products and 11% of world’s production forests. In 2007, they left the World Wildlife Fund to join the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids as VP of International Communications.
