Nikia Owens, Ph.D.

Nikia Owens, Ph.D. has over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in the non-profit and government sectors. Nikia is currently serving as the President/CEO of Campaign for Working Families, where they provide strategic direction and planning for the organization. Prior to this, they founded and owned 3Ps N U, LLC, a consulting company that offered services in program management, training, technical assistance, and grant writing.

Dr. Owens also held positions at the City of Philadelphia as the Deputy Executive Director of Family Supports, Basic Needs, and Contracts, where they managed a $25 million investment portfolio and restructured and implemented a strategic framework for Youth Strategies. Nikia was the Managing Director of Financial Empowerment at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, where they developed and designed a strategic framework and investment platform for workforce and asset development.

Additionally, Dr. Owens has worked as the Director of Housing & Basic Needs at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, the Director of Internal & Executive Communications at Neighborhood Centers Inc., the Vice President of College Access at Project GRAD USA, and the Information Manager/Planner/Evaluator at the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department.

Throughout their career, Dr. Owens has demonstrated their expertise in leadership, strategic planning, program management, evaluation, and community engagement. Nikia has successfully managed large investment portfolios, developed strategic frameworks, secured funding, and implemented program evaluation models.

Nikia Owens, Ph.D., completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Howard University in 1998. Nikia went on to pursue a Master of Social Work degree at the same institution from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, they enrolled at Clark Atlanta University to pursue their Ph.D. in Social Work Planning, Administration & Social Science, with a subspecialty in Educational Leadership. Nikia successfully completed their doctoral program in 2005.
