Sean Porter

Sean provides strategic and operational support to producers regarding the CMPA’s labour agreements. Sean helps producers understand the terms and conditions of the CMPA labour agreements and assists producers in managing and resolving disputes arising under these agreements.

As a member of the National Industrial Relations team and counsel to the CMPA, Sean represents the CMPA, and supports its members, in legal disputes including grievances and arbitrations. Sean also provides legal support to the CMPA in labour negotiations with the industry’s unions and guilds and in the advancement of labour and employment-related legislative priorities.

Prior to joining the CMPA, Sean was an Associate in the labour & employment group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where he advised and represented employers on a broad range of labour, employment and human rights matters. Before that, Sean articled and worked as an Associate at Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storie LLP, a labour & employment law firm.

Sean received his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University and his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations from the University of Toronto (Trinity College). Sean was called to the bar in Ontario in 2014.
