Alexandre Poulain

Alexandre Poulain's work experience begins in 2003 as a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistant at Université de Montréal. Alexandre then became an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow in Geomicrobiology at MIT from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, they joined the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor and eventually became an Associate Professor in 2014. In 2016, Alexandre became a Co-Founder of Microbright and also took on the role of Subject Editor for Microbiology at Canadian Science Publishing. In addition, they served as an Associate Editor at the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) from an unknown start date until 2017. Moreover, Alexandre served as an Academic Editor at the Public Library of Science (PLOS ONE Journal) from 2014 to 2016. Currently, they hold the positions of Full Professor at the University of Ottawa and Vice-Dean of Innovation & Strategic Partnerships, starting in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Alexandre Poulain began their education journey in 1996 at Université d'Angers, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences and Biology from 1996 to 2000. They then pursued a Master of Science degree in Limnology and Biogeochemistry from Université du Québec - Institut national de la recherche scientifique from 2001 to 2003. Following their master's degree, they joined Université de Montréal and achieved a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from 2003 to 2007. Lastly, Alexandre Poulain attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Geomicrobiology from 2007 to 2009.
