Susie Mather

Susie Mather is an accomplished communications leader with extensive experience across various high-profile organizations. Currently serving as the Director of Communications and External Relations at Canal & River Trust since June 2023, Mather is a key member of the executive team responsible for nationwide engagement and public affairs. Previously, Mather held the role of Strategic Communications Director (interim) at The Crown Estate, where senior counsel was provided to the CEO and Executive team, particularly in offshore renewable energy communications. Mather served as Executive Director of Strategy & Communications at AWE from 2013 to 2021, focusing on corporate strategy, media relations, and government engagement. Mather's early career includes various roles in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where significant contributions were made in diplomatic services and policy representation. Mather holds a PhD and BA in Music History, Literature, and Theory from the University of Oxford.
