Lauren Atkins has had extensive work experience in the field of nutrition and oncology. Lauren co-founded OnCore Nutrition, a team of Accredited Practising Dietitians specializing in managing nutrition-related conditions and cancer types. At OnCore, they focus on the role of food and nutrition in cancer therapy. Lauren has also worked as a Guest Lecturer at Deakin University and the University of Melbourne, where they taught on topics related to nutrition and oncology. Lauren has served as a Dietitian Team Lead at Epworth and as a Consultant Oncology Dietitian at the Pancare Foundation. Lauren has been involved in various organizations and initiatives related to oncology, including the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) and Cancer Council Australia. Lauren served as a COSA Nutrition Group Executive and was a part of the Expert Working Group for Head and Neck and Sarcoma Optimal Care Pathways at Cancer Council Australia. Prior to their current roles, Lauren worked as a Senior Oncology Dietitian at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and as a Paediatric Dietitian at The Royal Children's Hospital.

Lauren Atkins has a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition Services, which they obtained from Monash University from 2007 to 2010. In 2014, they earned a Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics from the Royal Children's Hospital. In 2016, Lauren completed a Certificate in Complementary Medicine and Health from the Florida College of Integrative Medicine, focusing on Health and Wellness. Lauren also obtained a certificate in The Science of Weight Loss: Dispelling Diet Myths from edX in 2018 and a certificate in Health, Not Diets: Non-Diet Approach from Open Learning Group in 2019.

Lauren has acquired additional certifications, including being an Accredited Practising Dietitian from the Dietitians Association of Australia. The specific month and year of their certification are not provided.

In 2019, they further expanded their knowledge in the field of health services and allied health by completing an online course in Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Care from eviQ and a short course in Cancer Survivorship for Primary Care Practitioners from Future Learn.
