Dan Higgins is an experienced educator and journalist with over 15 years in higher education and more than 25 years in multimedia journalism. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Journalism Program at Canisius College since August 2017, Dan specializes in Strategic Communication and Journalism, focusing on longform and breaking news content, as well as audio production. Additional roles include Freelance Contributor at The New York Times and Editor, Writer, and Consultant at Higgins Editorial Services. Dan has also held teaching positions at the University at Buffalo and Hilbert College, and has a background in producing for news networks. Dan holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Nonfiction) from Goucher College and a BA in English from the State University of New York College at Potsdam, with academic interests centered on coping skills for reporters covering traumatic events.
