Alex Stack, PE, SE, LEED AP BD-C, has a diverse work experience in the field of structural engineering. Alex started their career at Engineering Consulting Services, LLP as a Quality Control Field Technician in 2007. Alex then worked as a Research Aide at the Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials from 2007 to 2009. Following that, they served as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Materials Group, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UC-Berkeley, where they developed and validated a novel low-cost, low-environmental impact self-consolidating concrete.
In 2010, Alex worked as a SEAONC Practical Trainee at Rutherford & Chekene. The following year, they held several positions simultaneously, including Lead Instructor at Engineers Alliance for the Arts, Structural BIM Technician at Arup, and Project Engineer at Tipping Structural Engineers.
In 2015, Alex joined Mar Structural Design as a Project Engineer and contributed to various projects until 2022. In 2016, they established their own company, Stack Engineering LLC, and served as a Principal until 2022.
Currently, Alex works as a Structural Engineer at CannonDesign, utilizing their extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of structural engineering. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated strong leadership skills, effective planning, and a commitment to environmental sustainability, as evidenced by their LEED AP BD-C accreditation.
Alex Stack, PE, SE, LEED AP BD-C completed a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at Northwestern University from 2005 to 2009. Further, Alex pursued a Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials at the University of California, Berkeley from 2009 to 2010. Additionally, Alex has obtained various certifications including Structural Engineer (SE) from the State of California in June 2023, and Professional Engineer (Civil) from the State of Missouri in October 2017, the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation in December 2016, the State of Maryland in November 2016, and the District of Columbia in January 2016. Alex is also a LEED Accredited Professional with a Building Design + Construction Specialty, accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council in January 2016. Lastly, Alex began their professional journey by obtaining an Engineer In Training certification from the State of Illinois in April 2009.
